GoKawiilThere’s a new version of Pocket Casts out for podcast listeners today, and it includes three new features. One in particular will be of interest to drivers with CarPlay.
A month ago, Pocket Casts shipped an update that included Liquid Glass design throughout the app. The update also added chapter artwork to the app’s mini player.
Today’s release gives even more attention to the mini player and podcast chapter artwork.
“The mini player got bigger controls (your thumbs asked nicely), and the bottom of the podcast grid eases into a blur, so nothing gets lost or hard to read where the grid meets the player,” according to the release notes.
In addition to the mini player changes, Pocket Casts version 8.15 includes three new features. First, folders now include context menus. Next, there’s a new Siri shortcut for marking the current episode of a podcast as played. And finally, chapter artwork now appears on the Lock Screen, in Control Center, and on CarPlay.
The update also drops support for two older versions of iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch software releases: iOS 16 and watchOS 9. That means Pocket Casts app updates now require iOS 17 and watchOS 10 or later.
