The Next Big Thing in Shonen Anime Is Coming to Crunchyroll in July

Today, Crunchyroll announced it will exclusively stream Gachiakuta, a series manga readers have long heralded as the next big shonen series. The anime will premiere on the streamer in July. Gachiakuta, written and drawn by Kei Urana alongside graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, is a dystopian action fantasy series first published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2022. It follows Rudo, an outcast slumming it off of the rich’s garbage. After being framed for murder, he is discarded from a decadent floating city into a bottomless abyss called The Pitt. His ultimate goal is to return to the floating city and exact revenge on the people who threw him away like trash–the only obstacle in his path is the wasteland’s brutal, Mad Max-esque raiders and kaiju scattered throughout The Pit.
