If you often find your pantry lacking in the snack department, or you're tired of munching on the same old snacks, a snack subscription box can solve both dilemmas. They also make great gifts. Catering to snacks from different countries or to specific dietary restrictions and preferences, these companies will regularly send a curated box filled with tasty treats right to your door, so you can save time and effort on your next grocery store trip. It's like a meal delivery service, but just for snacks.
To find the best snack box subscriptions, CNET editors have been putting popular companies to the test over the years. After taking taste, flavor profile, price, dietary needs and variety into account, these are the snack subscriptions that have won us over time and time again.
What is the best overall snack box subcription?
Bokksu is our favorite snack box overall because it consistently delivers thoughtfully curated snacks from family-run businesses in Japan. It offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory snacks, all delicious. Whether you're treating yourself or a loved one to a subscription or purchasing a single box or a few snacks as a gift, you can't go wrong with Bokksu.

Anna Gragert/CNET Photo Gallery 1/1 Anna Gragert/CNET Best snack box overall Bokksu After retesting Bokksu in 2026, it has remained CNET’s best snack box overall, and for good reason. Since 2016, Bokksu has been delivering tasty themed snack boxes straight from Japan every one, three, six or 12 months. Each comes with over 20 Japanese sweet and savory snacks and a tea from family-run businesses, some of which are exclusive to Bokksu, and a culture guide detailing where each snack is from and allergen info. New subscribers receive the Seasons of Japan box first, which is the one I tested and loved. Specific snacks are thoughtfully selected for fall, winter, spring and summer, and I found all of them delicious. The culture guide beautifully details everything you need to know with stunning visuals: where the snacks come from on a map, common allergens, flavor profiles, detailed descriptions and whether they’re vegetarian. If your box received a replacement, you’ll also be sent a note explaining it. If you’d like to purchase individual snacks or a snack box without a subscription, you can do so through the Bokksu Boutique or the brand's own line, Bokksu Originals. Since subscriptions start at $33 per month and won’t be in everyone's budget, it’s nice that you can opt for a single box or a few snacks without committing. Tokyo Treat Photo Gallery 1/1 Tokyo Treat Another excellent option Tokyo Treat Tokyo Treat is another service that collects snacks, cookies and candy from Japan, which, after several rounds of testing, I declare the snack capital of the world. Tokyo Treat has some overlap with Bokksu, but treats are slightly more geared toward kids, with classic salty or strawberry-flavored snacks and fewer laced with "adult flavors," such as nori (seaweed), coffee or green tea. Photo Gallery 1/1 Best healthy snack subscription alternative HealthyMe Living We tested the lesser-known brand HealthyMe Living in 2026 and were impressed with its selection of tasty treats that are also good for you. The company was founded by certified health coach Christy Venter, and my box included 10 snacks. Some, like the fiery cheddar fries from Pip's Heirloom Snacks, satisfied cravings, while others tasted a little too... healthy for my liking. But overall, I was impressed with the selection and the nutrition values, and I loved that some were sweet while others were savory or spicy. You can purchase one box at a time or sign up for a subscription of three, six or 12 boxes for a discount. If you opt for a subscription, you can decide at checkout whether to have it automatically renew, so you don't have to worry about sneaky renewal charges in the future. Besides those choices, everything else regarding your box will remain a mystery until it shows up on your doorstep.
