Apple used to make things people couldn’t live without. For its AI to do that, hardware, software, and design need to all be working together to solve the same problem. Apple owns the smartphone. It owns the devices and the ecosystem around them. It owns the on-campus product launch. Steve Jobs built that, Tim Cook protected it, and now John Ternus has to carry it into the AI era. That’s the hard part.
