WhatsApp is rolling out in-call settings that allow users to switch between the iPhone’s different Mic Modes. Here are the details.

In-call Mic Modes now available on WhatsApp

As spotted by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp now lets iPhone users switch between Mic Mode directly from the in-call interface.

Previously, users had to open Control Center to choose between Automatic, Standard, Voice Isolation, and Wide Spectrum. Now, those options are available from the WhatsApp call screen.

Users can access mic mode directly from the call screen. At the bottom of the interface, users can tap the “More” button. Here, users can find the “mic mode” option that lets them choose how the microphone handles audio during the call. This option opens the system menu where users can choose between four mic modes offered by Apple. iOS applies the mode immediately without ending or interrupting the call.

The site notes that microphone settings persist between calls. For example, once Voice Isolation is enabled, WhatsApp will continue using it for future calls until the user selects a different mode.

If you’re unfamiliar with the iPhone’s different Mic Modes, here’s Apple’s official description of each option:

Automatic : Automatically uses the Mic Mode that’s best for your call or recording. For example, Automatic uses Voice Isolation to block ambient noises during calls using the receiver, and it uses the Standard mic mode for calls using the speakerphone.
