GoKawiilOpera announced two new features for its desktop browser today: optional vertical tabs and expanded Google Lens integration. Here are the details.
In a post published to Opera’s blog today, the company announced two updates to its Opera One browser.
The first one is an increasingly common UI setting for browsers: Vertical Tabs. It replaces the traditional horizontal header strip with a laterally stacked view of the tabs, which sit on a resizable panel.
Opera says that “when using it, you’re able to see the favicon of the tab, and, most importantly, its full title – letting you easily identify each and every tab.” In fact, users can display full tab names or switch to an icon-only view, leaving even more room for web content.
The Vertical Tab strip can be toggled on from Settings, under Browser > Tabs.
Additionally, Opera One also expanded its previous Google Lens integration. Here’s Opera:
“Google Lens has been in Opera One for a while now, but we’ve made it more accessible and expanded its functionality. Now you can perform an image search right from your Opera home page, with Google Lens integrated into the search bar. Additionally, you can conduct an image search using local files or by pasting an image from the clipboard. Once you click the Google Lens icon in the search bar, a dialogue box will open where you can supply an image by uploading a file, dragging and dropping, pasting from a clipboard, or entering an image URL. The results of your search will then appear in your current tab.”
