Apple Wallet added support for digital IDs years ago, but US states have been fairly slow to support the feature.

That’s changed some in the last year as rollouts have increased. And now, per the findings of Aaron Perris, it sounds like another couple of states will get on board soon.

Today I found a reference in Apple's backend to Utah possibly being the next state to get a Driver's License in Apple Wallet

In May, I also found a reference to Virginia, but that is not live yet. https://t.co/rNtbbngjjj — Aaron (@aaronp613) July 23, 2026

Per Perris, both Utah and Virginia are ready to be supported in Apple’s backend.

That means Apple has already done some of the work needed to launch digital IDs and driver’s licenses in those states.
