New set of RCs available
Just four days ago, Apple rolled out the sixth release candidates for macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, alongside the first RC for macOS 26.6 and its counterparts.
Given the timing and the number of RCs, it felt natural to assume these would be the last test rollouts ahead of the official launch. They were not.
Today, Apple rolled out macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 RCs 7, with the following release builds:
macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 (23J620)
macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 (24G824)
Both are now available to developers and the public beta.
Apple has yet to detail what’s included in both systems, in addition to the usual “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.” note. The company will likely give more details on the Apple security updates page after it officially launches both systems.
Apple has been releasing updates for older system versions, bringing important bug fixes to users who can’t run the latest software. That is likely the case here as well, so anyone still using macOS Sonoma or Sequoia should install the updates quickly, after they become publicly available, most likely early next week.
