Physical boundary wires involve installing a charging station, laying wire around the entire perimeter by hand, running a guide wire back to the station, and connecting everything up. That process can take more than three hours, and the wire kits themselves often cost a few hundred dollars. And while signal beacon and RTK systems cut down on the manual labor, you still need to figure out where each beacon or antenna goes, install the charging station, and then walk the mower around to set the mowing area by remote control.
The A3 AWD Pro skips both of those steps. Installation is just the charging station and then setting the mowing area by remote control, a process that won’t take more than 20 minutes.

This all comes down to the OmniSense 3.0 system. Rather than leaning on one sensor type, Dreame pairs a 360-degree 3D LiDAR unit with binocular AI vision. The LiDAR builds a spatial picture of the yard, while the cameras identify what’s in it, so the mower can lay out its own boundaries without any wiring in the ground. AI Auto Mapping handles everything well, but you can also use the remote control feature and walk the mower around the property’s edge yourself.
Single-sensor systems each have a weak point. RTK setups can lose their satellite connection under thick tree cover or close to the house, and vision-only mowers tend to struggle in poor lighting conditions. With OmniSense 3.0, the A3 AWD Pro keeps working through shade, overcast skies, and after sunset.
