Google is giving its free streaming service a major upgrade. Google TV Freeplay now offers more than 10,000 free movies and TV shows on demand, along with an expanded lineup of over 300 free live channels.
Previously focused primarily on free, ad-supported live TV channels, Freeplay is now adding video-on-demand content. That means you can pick a movie or show and start watching whenever you want, rather than having to tune into whatever is currently playing on a live channel.
The new on-demand catalog includes movies and shows from studios such as A24 and Lionsgate. Google highlights movies including Lady Bird and Seventeen Again, as well as shows such as Hell’s Kitchen. Google says it will continue refreshing the library throughout the year.

Freeplay’s live TV selection is also getting bigger, with new channels including World of Love Island, Bloomberg TV Plus, Yahoo! Sports Network, and The Martha Stewart Channel.
For those unfamiliar with it, Google TV Freeplay is Google’s free, ad-supported TV service built directly into Google TV devices. It offers a collection of live channels without requiring a subscription, making it Google’s answer to free streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi.
