Gboard’s Rambler could learn your slang as you speak along

TL;DR An Android Authority teardown has revealed more details about Google’s Rambler tool.

We uncovered two screenshots showing off the feature, including two dictionary options.

You can use your existing Gboard dictionary, but there’s also a Rambler Dictionary that saves your spoken words.

Gemini Intelligence brings a suite of features to compatible Android phones, and Gboard’s Rambler tool is one of them. This speech-to-text tool delivers polished voice dictation that includes removing filler words and pauses. Google has already delivered plenty of info about this tool, but we’ve now discovered even more details.

We dug into the latest Gboard beta (v18.0.3) and discovered two screens showing off Rambler-related functionality. Check them out via the screenshots below.

The first screen shows the ability to switch between Standard and Rambler dictation modes. This isn’t the first time we’ve discovered a Rambler toggle, but the latest screenshot shows that you can now tap either dictation mode to view even more settings.

Meanwhile, the second screenshot shows that you can let Rambler use words from your existing dictionary. That’s welcome news and means the tool doesn’t necessarily have to learn your favorite words all over again. Furthermore, the screenshot also mentions a Rambler Dictionary, which contains “words learned from Rambler voice typing.” This suggests that Rambler could learn new words as you speak to it, but we’re not sure how this will work.
