GoKawiilMacBook Neo is still only a few months old, but it’s been a big hit for Apple. And rumors say its successor is coming next year, with MacBook Neo 2 getting the key upgrade it needs most: more RAM.
MacBook Neo 2 to have 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB in current model
When MacBook Neo launched earlier this year, it delivered an impressively powerful Mac at a budget-friendly price.
Since then, prices have increased (unless you buy refurbished from Apple), but the machine has continued proving itself extremely capable for most computing tasks.
Unless you’re doing heavy video editing, coding apps, or running local AI models, MacBook Neo is likely more than enough computer for you. It even handled 59 Chrome tabs.
But if Apple could change just one thing about the original MacBook Neo, I suspect many users would ask for additional RAM.
MacBook Neo has an A18 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM, but rumors suggest MacBook Neo 2 will have an A19 Pro chip with 12GB.
Adding 50% more memory could make a huge difference to anyone worried about spec limitations.
8GB of RAM goes a lot further on a Mac than it tends to on PCs. And since the current MacBook Neo has proven powerful enough for most, its successor will be even more so.
The upgraded memory will also make MacBook Neo 2 better equipped to run macOS 27’s new AI features—including some that require 12GB.
