Maybe Google doesn’t need to make its next-gen Pixels thinner after all. Instead, consumers might just be satisfied to see the tech giant make better use of the space its phones are already taking up.
That’s the biggest takeaway from a recent survey we ran, asking Android Authority readers about which major Pixel flaw they most want Google to fix.
For reference, my colleague Shimul Sood recently aired her grievances about the Pixel line, arguing that the phones are thicker and heavier than they really need to be. That didn’t change with the Pixel 11, and we questioned whether you agree.
We asked you to choose between four major Pixel hardware complaints, and two options clearly stood out from the others:

Overheating despite the bulk was the clear concern for 42.3% of the respondents, closely followed by Google opting for the same battery size, gen after gen, which accounted for 39% of the votes.
81.4% of our readers would like to see Google fix the Pixel series’ overheating issues or stagnant battery capacity, rather than simply making future phones thinner and lighter with nothing to show for it.
Reader lrsebastian93 perfectly summed up the issue: “I just want them to make them thicker, but smarter, i’ll take a 1-2mm thickens increase if that means a 6500 battery, a vapor chamber good enough to finally fix the overheating and most importantly since the phone will be thicker, bigger camera sensors!” Commenter DFranch added: “If you’re going to have a 3mm camera bump, you may as well make the phone a little thicker and put a bigger battery in it.” That sentiment ties neatly into the other 14% of respondents that chose weight/thickness with nothing to show for it as their main concern. This makes it clear that consumers aren’t necessarily against thick Pixel devices that might not be the lightest on the market — they just want Google to be able to justify the extra bulk.
Lastly, 4.7% of respondents picked Pro-only features like HiLight as the main Pixel flaw they would like to see Google fix. Users understand the drawbacks that come with choosing a base model over a Pro one, and clearly, exclusive features being reserved for higher-end devices is nowhere near the top of the concerns list.
