TL;DR Samsung Galaxy S26 units have been coming down with an odd red tint to their screens.
The manufacturer has confirmed this was a software issue, but so far the only fix has been available in person.
Now Samsung finally looks ready to distribute the fix en masse via a software update.
We all know how annoying it is when our phones suffer from an unexpected glitch. But for as frustrating as that can be, it’s maybe somehow even worse when a manufacturer confirms that it’s developed a fix, but we can’t immediately get our hands on it. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra have been dealing with such a tease for several weeks now, but the good news is that the end finally appears to be in sight.
Users first alerted us to problem in mid-July, reporting that they were seeing sections of their S26 Ultra’s screen take on a pinkish, redish hue:

While your first guess might be a physical defect in the display panel, it didn’t take long for Samsung to confirm that this was, instead, a software issue.
That was good news — at least, in theory — but the fix wasn’t easy to get your hands on. Initially, Samsung asked that impacted users physically bring their phones in to service centers for screen recalibration. The company did at least tease that it hoped to eventually deploy the fix as a software update for the S26 Ultra, but wasn’t sharing a timetable for availability.
Earlier this month, Samsung reiterated its intent to release an update to resolve the screen tint issue remotely, but still didn’t have an ETA for the fix. But now it finally looks like that wait could nearly be over.
