TL;DR The ASUS Googlebook has leaked yet again, this time with 16GB of RAM and an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor.
The leak suggests a price tag of around $1,390.
ASUS could also offer its Googlebook with 32GB or 64GB of RAM and an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor.
We’ve seen plenty of Googlebook leaks over the last couple of months, including devices from Lenovo, Acer, HP, and ASUS. There have also been reports that the ASUS Googlebook will pack a whopping 64GB of RAM. However, a new leak today is giving us a bit more clarity on ASUS’ plans for its Googlebook offerings.
According to a now-removed retail listing for the ASUS CX9406 Googlebook spotted by GbookHub, the company may be considering a tiered Googlebook lineup to cover different price points. The listing reportedly mentioned a much more modest configuration for the Googlebook with the model number CX9406CAA-DSU51T-CB.
Per that listing, ASUS will use the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. It could also feature a 14-inch touchscreen.
The listing displayed a price tag of $1,915 CAD (~$1,390). However, a direct conversion of Canadian pricing doesn’t always apply to devices in the US, and the actual launch price could be different.
That said, spotting a retail listing for a watered-down 16GB RAM variant of the CX9406 Googlebook makes it fairly clear that ASUS isn’t planning to launch only top-of-the-line Googlebooks that could be insanely expensive given current memory prices. It’s far more likely that the company will introduce its Googlebooks at multiple price points.
That also makes sense, considering a recent Acer Googlebook leak hinted at a price tag of around $1,200. By launching its own Googlebook devices at multiple price points, including sub-$1,500 options, ASUS will be able to compete against other brands at the lower end of the Googlebook market as well.
