Geoff Keighley's Gamescom 2026 opening ceremony delivered a wave of trailers, including HoYoverse's co-op action game Nodus Fall, Iceflake Studios' LEGO-themed city builder LEGO Skylines, and Rainbow Six Tactics, a turn-based spin-off due in 2027 that marks the franchise's first single-player entry since 2008. Microsoft also showed the first campaign footage for Gears of War: E-Day ahead of its October 6 launch, while Pearl Abyss unveiled an enhanced version of Crimson Desert.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
The lineup shows major publishers leaning on established franchises and spin-off genres, like turn-based tactics, rather than entirely new IP to draw attention at a crowded show. It also reflects HoYoverse's continued push beyond gacha titles and Microsoft's effort to build hype for a long-gestating Gears of War prequel before its imminent release.
- Rainbow Six Tactics is the franchise's first single-player game since 2008, arriving in 2027 as an XCOM-style tactics title.
- HoYoverse revealed Nodus Fall, a co-op action game with Souls-like visuals likely to follow a free-to-play model.
- Gears of War: E-Day's first campaign trailer arrived ahead of its October 6 launch, alongside a Crimson Desert enhanced edition.
