TL;DR Samsung is letting Galaxy S26 Ultra users know that a software fix for the display’s red tint issue will arrive today.
The timing of Samsung’s notification suggests the August 2026 security update may contain the patch for this screen discoloration bug.
Samsung initially asked users to go to company service centers to get the update installed manually, but people can now seemingly get the same fix through an OTA update.
Imagine you bought yourself Samsung’s top-of-the-line flagship phone earlier this year, only to discover an annoying red hue prominently appearing on the display. This is exactly what happened to several Galaxy S26 Ultra owners in July. Last we heard, Samsung was working on a software update to remedy this particular glitch, and it now looks like that update could roll out to users anytime now.
In an update notice reportedly posted to the Samsung Members app, and later shared on the company’s community page by a user, Samsung says it will start rolling out an update to fix the red tint bug starting today (via SamMobile).
Translated, the message says a “color optimization” update notification should arrive imminently, adding that “no separate action is required” to fix the screen’s discoloration problems.
Since the August 2026 update also began rolling out for the Galaxy S26 series earlier today, it feels likely that the fix for Galaxy S26 Ultra’s red hue issues may also be included in the same update. However, Samsung hasn’t yet directly confirmed this. With this bug-fixing update seemingly dropping in South Korea today, it shouldn’t take long to reach other markets across the globe.
When the red-tint issue first surfaced, the manufacturer directed impacted users to visit their nearby Samsung service center to get the software fix installed. At the time, the company also said it would roll out an update more widely to fix the issue for everyone, including those who may not have been able to visit a company outlet.
This particular update appears to be part of that broader rollout Samsung promised, at least based on the message in the Samsung Members app. A quick reading of the replies under the community page post suggests the update may not have fixed the red hue from the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s screen for everyone. However, it’s hard to reach a conclusion either way until the update has rolled out widely.
