GoKawiilProton VPN highlights unlimited, ad-free data on its free tier
Proton VPN is promoting its free plan as offering unlimited data and speeds with no ads, no activity logging, and protection under Swiss privacy law. The free tier is limited to one device and lacks streaming-optimized servers and the Stealth protocol, which remain reserved for paid subscribers.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
Most free VPN services cap data or inject ads to monetize users, so a genuinely unlimited, ad-free free tier is unusual and could pressure competitors to match it. For users in restrictive regions or with limited budgets, this positions Proton VPN as a rare privacy tool that doesn't compromise access for cost.
- Proton VPN's free plan has no data caps, speed limits, or ads
- Free tier is limited to one device; paid Plus plan supports up to 10
- Advanced features like Stealth protocol and streaming servers require a paid subscription
YubiKey 5 NFC Security Key — If ProtonVPN's privacy pitch resonates, a hardware security key is the natural next step for locking down the accounts behind it. The YubiKey 5 NFC works over USB-A and taps to phones via NFC, adding phishing-resistant two-factor authentication to Proton, Google, and countless other services.
