GoKawiilSony WH-1000XM5 headphones drop to $198 for Labor Day, no Prime needed
Sony has cut the price of its WH-1000XM5 over-ear headphones to $198 at both Amazon and Best Buy as part of week-long Labor Day discounts. That price matches the lowest they hit during Prime Day in late June, but this time shoppers don't need a Prime membership to access it. The headphones normally retail near $250 and launched in 2022 at $399.99.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
The discount shows retailers pushing aggressive deals on last-generation flagship audio gear even as Sony's newer XM6 model remains on shelves, giving budget-conscious buyers a chance to get near-top-tier noise cancellation for less. It also comes amid rumors that Sony may reissue the older XM4 model at a lower price, suggesting the company is reshuffling its headphone lineup ahead of new launches.
- WH-1000XM5 headphones are $198 at Amazon and Best Buy, matching their lowest-ever price.
- No Prime membership is required this time, unlike the June deal.
- Sony may reintroduce the cheaper XM4 model, though it's unlikely to beat this XM5 price.
