TL;DR Samsung has released the first One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, expanding the beta program beyond the Galaxy S26 series.
The 3,862MB update (firmware DZHK) includes the August 5, 2026, security patch and brings Android 17 to the phone.
Currently live in India, the UK, and South Korea, the new update will hopefully be available in the US, Germany, and Poland as well if Samsung sticks to its release patterns.
The Galaxy S26 series just received its seventh One UI 9 beta release last week, but aside from the flagships that launched with One UI 9 out of the box, other Samsung phones haven’t joined the party yet. That changes today, as Samsung has finally begun the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy 25 series.
Tarun Vats reveals on X that Samsung has begun the One UI 9 Beta program for the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea, the UK, and India.
The first One UI 9 beta release for the Galaxy S25 series comes with firmware version ending in ZZHL/DZHK. It comes in at a good 3,861.56MB in size, and the large size is quite expected for the first beta release that brings the Android 17 platform update. The security patch level is August 5, 2026.
If Samsung follows its beta release patterns from the Galaxy S26 series, we can expect the S25’s beta update to roll out in Poland, Germany, and the US as well. Samsung hasn’t announced all the release regions for this beta program expansion.
It’s also unclear if the Galaxy S25 Edge is included in this beta program. Surprisingly, Samsung has included the Galaxy S25 FE in this program in South Korea, as Tarun Vats notes on X.
The changelog for the update merely mentions this as the first beta release, so we will have to dig in to see what new features have trickled down to Samsung’s older flagship. We’ll keep you updated when we learn more, but if you’ve found new features, let us know in the comments below!
