GoKawiilTL;DR Xiaomi has officially revealed the Xiaomi 18 Fold, confirming its design and September 7 announcement date (two days before Apple’s iPhone event, where it is rumored to launch its foldable).
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is confirmed to come with a 5.38-inch external screen, a 7.58-inch internal screen, a triple rear camera setup, and Xiaomi’s new XRing O3 SoC.
Leaks suggest the cameras include a 3.5x optical zoom telephoto lens, something that is missing from key rivals.
Foldable phones (especially the wide-screen ones) seem to be picking up steam, with special thanks to Apple’s imminent market entry with the iPhone Ultra and Samsung’s early success with the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8. Before these, HUAWEI has also been making a splash with its wide foldables, and now Xiaomi is all geared up to launch its own wide foldable next week in the form of the Xiaomi 18 Fold.
Xiaomi’s President of the mobile division, Mr. Lu Weibing, has shared official renders of the Xiaomi 18 Fold on Weibo and confirmed that the phone launches in China on September 7, 2026.
It’s no coincidence that Xiaomi’s event is scheduled for September 7. Apple had announced its own launch event for September 9, 2027, where it is expected to launch the iPhone Ultra foldable. Xiaomi’s foldable is similar in form factor, and with a launch that is just two days prior, Xiaomi technically beats Apple to market with its wide foldable. However, to be fair, this isn’t Xiaomi’s first foldable, while it would be Apple’s first.

Xiaomi has also confirmed a few key specifications. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is being called a “mid-fold” form factor foldable, as it bridges the gap between a large book-style foldable and a smaller flip-style foldable. It comes with a 5.38-inch external screen and a 7.58-inch internal screen. We see the phone in a striking red color, and of particular note is the rear camera island, which comprises three cameras — two more than most wide folding phones on the market (and coming soon).
Previously, Xiaomi confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will debut with the company’s new XRing O3 SoC.
Leaker Digital Chat Station shared even more details on Weibo, though these should be treated as a leak. According to them, the Xiaomi 18 Fold has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a Leica Summilux triple-camera system comprising an f/1.7 main camera, an f/2.8 telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 17mm ultrawide.
