September is going Pro Max: Here are the 6 ‘Pro Max’ flagships launching this month

September 2026 is shaping up to be one of the busiest Techtember seasons in many years. Not only are we expecting Apple to shake up the market with the iPhone Ultra foldable , but we’re also expecting new flagship silicon from both Qualcomm and MediaTek to power the next generation of flagships. With Android’s Ultras almost out of the picture , Android brands are also expected to release their own “Pro Max” flagships to compete with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, with some of them set to reach global markets. Here are the Pro Max phones we expect to launch in September, along with their highlight features!

So far, Apple, Xiaomi, HUAWEI, vivo, OPPO, and HONOR have all confirmed events happening in September, though the exact products being launched are still understandably under wraps. In all, we expect to see:

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max: Likely coming with the Apple A20 Pro SoC, a variable aperture primary camera, and a smaller FaceID setup on the front. Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: Likely coming with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, along with Leica-branded cameras, and a rear display like its predecessor. HUAWEI Mate 90 Pro Max: Likely to come with the Kirin 9050 Pro SoC and an HDR imaging system. vivo X500 Pro Max: Likely coming with the Dimensity 9600 Pro and an HDR imaging system. OPPO Find X10 Pro Max: Likely coming with the Dimensity 9600 Pro and a triple 200MP rear camera setup. HONOR Magic 9 Pro Max: Likely coming with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, along with Arrix-branded dual 200MP rear camera setup.

It’s quite apparent that the Pro Max Android phones are looking to pick up the camera fight from where their Ultra predecessor left off. But these Pro Max phones may not just be a rebrand of the “Ultra” flagships. Instead, switching around the names gives the Android brand some room to adjust key specifications (and price) to compete with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, since Ultra flagships had gotten a bit too expensive and overkill to remain competitive and financially viable. Pro Max gets a cleaner slate to pull some of the crazy specifications back a notch so people can actually afford to buy the phone.
