Here’s what’s coming with iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, per Mark Gurman
Today Mark Gurman at Bloomberg published his latest expectations for the new iPhones being introduced on September 9.
While most of the report covers features reported previously, a few noteworthy details stand out.
For example, Apple has a new “mechanical aperture” camera feature coming to iPhone 18 Pro Max—and possibly the smaller iPhone 18 Pro too.
Despite plenty of reporting on this camera upgrade, which has also been called “variable aperture,” there have been minimal details on what it will enable. But Gurman reports today that it will be “for fine-tuning light adjustments and depth control.”
Additionally, the new report says iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have “better battery life and improved vapor chambers to prevent overheating.”
Battery improvements were already expected, but good to see confirmed. The mention of improved vapor chambers is a new detail, though.
Apple first debuted a vapor chamber in the iPhone last year with iPhone 17 Pro. It seems the company already has a second-generation version ready to go.
Finally, Gurman says “in-house C2 modems” are coming to iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. While this isn’t a new rumor, it’s worth highlighting because some reports have claimed Apple is sticking with Qualcomm modems again this year.
