The prestigious television Emmy Awards began this weekend, with the winners announced for Creative Arts categories. The Primetime award ceremony is coming up on September 14th, which will include the big categories like Best Drama and Best Comedy.
So far, though, Apple will be very happy with the recognition it has gotten, with Apple TV leading the weekend with a record 20 wins. A lot of that success is attributable to the breakout comedy Widows Bay, which earned 8 wins, and is now looking likely to sweep up all the top prizes in the comedy categories.
So far, for the 2026 Emmys, Apple has 20 wins followed by HBO Max with 16 and Netflix with 13. The latter streamers’ totals will probably overtake Apple after all the Primetime Emmys are announced, but Apple will hold a respectable third place.
Apple is expected to dominate in comedy, but lose out to the likes of The Pitt in drama. We’ll find out next Monday.
As it stands right now, Widows Bay has earned eight wins, Pluribus got four, Margo’s Got Money Troubles won three, Palm Royale also got three, and documentary Mr Scorsese also earned one.
That’s 19 across Apple TV titles; Apple also counts a win for the company’s “I’m Not Remarkable” commercial in its headline total of 20:
“Widow’s Bay”
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy: Betty Gilpin
Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour)
Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series
