GoKawiilApple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 to generate AI daily recaps from ambient audio
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple's upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will use the microphone, GPS and other sensors to build daily activity recaps, including summaries of conversations. These recaps will live inside the new Siri app, and users can set the listening feature to run continuously or only in specific locations.

This move puts Apple in direct competition with startups building always-on AI wearables meant to act as personal memory assistants. Apple's pitch hinges on privacy: no raw audio storage or transcripts, only processed summaries, which could ease consumer wariness about constant listening devices. Requiring new chips also signals Apple sees on-device secure processing as essential to making ambient AI acceptable at scale.
- New Apple Watches will passively record activity via mic, GPS and sensors to auto-generate daily summaries.
- No raw audio or transcripts are stored, only processed recap data saved within the Siri app.
- Feature requires new watch hardware, positioning Apple against other AI wearable makers on privacy grounds.
