GoKawiilApple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 add Siri Recap, an ambient conversation notetaker
Apple unveiled Siri Recap, a new Apple Watch feature that uses ambient listening and Apple Intelligence to generate titles, summaries and key points from conversations, viewable in the Siri app. The Watch event also introduced Shazam song identification, alerts for loud sounds like sirens or crying babies, and Live Rewind, which replays the last 15 seconds of audio via the digital crown.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
An always-on listening feature on a wearable device pushes Apple deeper into the crowded AI notetaker space already occupied by Granola and Circleback, while testing how much ambient surveillance users will tolerate on their wrist. Apple's privacy safeguards—no raw audio storage, no speaker identification, encryption for Live Rewind—are an attempt to preempt backlash, but summaries could still capture sensitive conversational details.
- Siri Recap generates AI summaries of conversations heard via Apple Watch's microphone, with adjustable always-on or scheduled settings.
- New audio intelligence features also include Shazam integration and alerts for sounds like sirens, doorbells, and crying babies.
- Apple stresses no raw audio storage and encryption, but ambient listening still raises privacy questions similar to competitors like Granola.

It's the natural pick for anyone who wants Siri, Shazam-style song ID, and workout tracking right on their wrist.
