GoKawiilApple debuts always-listening Audio Intelligence for Watch and iPhone
At Apple's 'Surprise and shine' event, new CEO John Ternus unveiled Audio Intelligence, an AI feature for recent Apple Watches and iPhones that transcribes and summarizes conversations, including a 'Live Rewind' that recalls the last 15 seconds of speech and a 'Siri Recap' that ambiently logs chats when enabled. Apple says the feature is encrypted and does not store raw audio, though it functions much like ambient-recording wearables from startups such as Plaud and Looki.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
This signals Apple's pivot toward positioning the iPhone and Watch as an 'intelligent personal hub' that passively captures and organizes daily conversations, not just responds to commands. It also puts Apple in direct competition with a wave of AI wearable startups built around ambient listening, raising fresh questions about privacy norms even as Apple emphasizes on-device encryption and no raw audio storage.
- Audio Intelligence brings conversation transcription and recall to Apple Watch and select iPhones.
- Live Rewind and Siri Recap let users revisit or search recent spoken conversations.
- The feature mirrors ambient AI wearables from companies like Plaud and Looki, intensifying competition in that space.
