GoKawiilmacOS 27 Golden Gate adds screen-aware Siri and revamped Spotlight Search
Apple's macOS 27 update brings a redesigned Siri that can view whatever is on screen, answer questions about it, and summarize or compare content using new Visual Intelligence tools. Users can pull an active window into Siri's context with Command+Shift+Space or select a specific screen region with Command+Shift+6 for targeted actions like contact lookup or location search. Spotlight Search also gains AI-powered web answers plus filtered search across apps, files, actions, and clipboard history.

This puts Apple's Siri in direct competition with browser sidebar assistants and third-party context-aware AI apps like Highlight and Littlebird, which have been filling the gap Siri previously left open. By tying screen-level context and Spotlight together, Apple is positioning macOS itself as the AI layer rather than leaving that role to browsers or standalone apps.
- Siri can now see and reason about on-screen content system-wide, not just within specific apps.
- New keyboard shortcuts let users select whole windows or specific screen regions for AI context.
- Spotlight Search now supports AI-generated answers and filtered searches across apps, files, and clipboard.
