Kerry Wan/ZDNET The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of the latest folding smartphones from Samsung, offering a thinner, lighter build, an 8-inch AMOLED display, and internal storage options up to 1TB. It just launched on Wednesday during Samsung Unpacked. If you're looking to upgrade your current smartphone, right now at AT&T, when you preorder the Galaxy Z Fold 7, you can get up to $1,100 trade-in credit for your device, dropping the price of the premium phone down to $800. Also: I tried Samsung's $2,000 Galaxy Z Fold 7 - it made my foldable phone look outdated So what's the catch? I've scrubbed through the terms of AT&T's trade-in deal so you don't have to. According to AT&T, the trade-in amount will be applied to your bill as a monthly credit for up to 36 months. To fully qualify, there are a few caveats, like having a payment plan for your phone instead of paying full retail price up front, and of course, different trade-in credit amounts for different phones. Also: I tried the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 - these 3 features make it worth upgrading to AT&T claims that they'll accept "any phone from any year in any condition," and that's true -- to a point. They'll happily let you trade in just about any phone, but only the Galaxy S, Note, and Z Series devices will be accepted from any year in any condition. So if you have a 20-year-old Nokia candy bar phone you're hoping to offload, you might want to find an e-waste recycling center instead. And if you decide to cancel your phone plan with AT&T within 90 days of getting your new Galaxy Z Fold 7, you'll be on the hook for the remaining balance on the device. Plans with unlimited talk, text, and data at AT&T start at $25 a month, and you can add on features like international calling, 5G hotspot capabilities, and even Wi-Fi protection and identity monitoring to help keep your data and information safe. AT&T also offers plan discounts for military service members and veterans, teachers, medical workers, and first responders to help manage your monthly phone bill. Looking for the next best product?
