GoKawiilAndroid Authority names five Wear OS smartwatches to buy over Moto Watch Ultra
Android Authority's Paul Jones argues that despite the $350 Moto Watch Ultra's strong feature set—LTE eSIM, Wear OS 6, a 1.5-inch pOLED screen and Polar health tracking—its weaker processor and limited two-generation OS upgrade path make it a risky buy. Instead, he recommends five alternatives including the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), Google Pixel Watch 4, Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, Garmin Venu 4 and Amazfit Balance 2. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, now around $330 on Amazon, is highlighted as the top pick for Samsung phone owners thanks to its rugged sapphire-glass build, 64GB storage, multi-day battery and four years of promised software updates.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
Long-term software support and processing power increasingly matter more than launch-day specs, since a slower chip or short upgrade window can make an otherwise capable smartwatch feel outdated within a couple of years. Price drops on flagship wearables like the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 show that shoppers now have strong alternatives at similar or lower cost than newer entrants like Motorola's device.
- Moto Watch Ultra costs $350 but has a weaker processor and only two OS upgrades promised.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 is now around $330 and offers four years of software support.
- Other recommended alternatives include Google Pixel Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 9, Garmin Venu 4, and Amazfit Balance 2.
