GoKawiilWhatsApp expands Apple Watch reactions beyond six preset emojis
WhatsApp is rolling out an update that lets Apple Watch users react to messages with any emoji from watchOS's full library, organized into eight categories including Smileys, Nature, and Objects. Previously, reactions on the Apple Watch app were limited to six default emojis, requiring an iPhone for anything else. Tapping and holding a message still shows the six defaults, but a new picker offers recent emojis and the complete system set.

This closes a gap left by WhatsApp's late-2023 Apple Watch app launch, which brought calls, voice messages, and chat history but stopped short of full emoji parity with the iPhone app. Wider reaction options make quick replies on the wrist more expressive without pulling out a phone, aligning WhatsApp's wearable experience closer to its main app.
- WhatsApp now supports the full watchOS emoji library for message reactions.
- Emojis are split into eight categories: Smileys, Nature, Food, Activity, Travel, Objects, Symbols, and Flags.
- The rollout is gradual, so some users may wait weeks before the feature appears.
