GoKawiilApple reportedly set to launch smart home hub on October 13, per Bloomberg
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will release a smart home hub, internally codenamed J490, on October 13. The device pairs a 6-inch LCD touchscreen with a speaker on an adjustable arm, using upgraded Siri to recognize household members by voice and face and show personalized calendars, messages, and app layouts; a wall-mounted variant, J491, is also planned.

The product would place Apple directly against Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub in the screen-equipped smart speaker category it has largely avoided until now. Gurman's reporting suggests Apple held off launching earlier because Siri's AI wasn't ready, meaning the hub's success may hinge on how well the revamped assistant performs in real households. A dedicated new operating system blending Apple TV, iPad, and Watch elements could also signal Apple's broader ambitions for smart home software beyond this single device.
