GoKawiilGoogle launches Guided Vision accessibility feature in Gemini Live
Google has rolled out Guided Vision, a new Gemini Live capability that lets blind and low-vision users share their phone camera and receive real-time spoken descriptions of their surroundings. The feature can also verbally direct users to reposition the camera, such as panning or stepping back, to get a clearer view. It works on Android 9 and newer in regions where Gemini Live is supported, and was developed with input from accessibility group Aira's Trusted Tester network.

The launch extends Gemini's camera-based assistance beyond general object recognition into a dedicated accessibility tool, suggesting Google is positioning Gemini Live as a practical daily aid rather than just a novelty feature. Involving over 1,000 testers from Aira indicates an effort to validate the tool with its actual target users before wide release. This could set a benchmark for how AI assistants integrate accessibility-first design into mainstream products.

- The feature verbally guides users to reposition their camera for better descriptions.
- It was co-developed with accessibility service Aira and over 1,000 Trusted Testers.
Phone Neck Mount Hands-Free Holder — If you're using Gemini Live's new Guided Vision feature to get real-time descriptions of your surroundings, a hands-free neck mount keeps your phone camera steady and pointed forward without needing your hands.
