GoKawiilApple preparing major MacBook Pro redesign with OLED, touchscreen, Dynamic Island
Apple is reportedly developing a significant MacBook Pro overhaul that could arrive later this year, following the March refresh. Expected changes include a shift from mini-LED to OLED displays, the first touchscreen on a Mac, and a Dynamic Island replacing the current notch, according to reporting that cites Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg. Apple is also said to be reworking macOS so controls dynamically resize and respond to touch gestures like pinching and scrolling.

A touchscreen Mac would mark a notable reversal of Apple's longstanding resistance to touch on laptops, suggesting the company believes software can now bridge the gap between trackpad and touch interaction. The OLED switch could bring the MacBook Pro's display quality in line with the iPhone and iPad, potentially pressuring rivals to match contrast and color improvements. If confirmed, these changes would represent one of the most substantial MacBook Pro redesigns in years, though specifics remain based on analyst and media reporting rather than Apple confirmation.
- MacBook Pro may switch to OLED displays, Apple's first use of the tech in a Mac.
- Apple is reportedly building its first touchscreen Mac with a reworked macOS interface.
- The notch could be replaced by a hole-punch camera cutout and a Dynamic Island feature.
