GoKawiilDeveloper releases free icon set for 544 North American cities
A creator published a collection of custom icons representing 544 cities across the US, Canada, and Mexico, built for a project called TrainGame. The set covers every city above 100,000 people in each country, plus five smaller exceptions in states lacking a city of that size, and uses population data from 2024 (US), 2025 (Canada), and 2020 (Mexico).
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
The release fills a gap for developers and designers who need city-specific visual assets beyond the usual handful of megacities like New York or Toronto. By releasing the icons under CC0 and the code under MIT license, the creator makes them freely reusable for other mapping, gaming, or data visualization projects without licensing concerns.
- 544 city icons cover the US, Canada, and Mexico above the 100k population threshold
- Five smaller cities were added as exceptions for states without a 100k-population city
- Icons are CC0-licensed and code is MIT-licensed, allowing free reuse
