The launch comes shortly after Apple introduced its own HomePod mini and HomeView smart display, suggesting intensifying competition in the smart home and voice assistant market. Amazon's push toward on-device AI processing and camera-based visual intelligence could signal an effort to keep Alexa relevant against rivals' newer AI-driven home products. Bundling a Wi-Fi extender and smart home hub directly into the Echo Dot may also be aimed at lowering the barrier for consumers to adopt connected home devices.
