GoKawiilASUS TUF monitor stops stray bullet during Reddit user's gaming session
A Reddit user posting as antisocialnae reported that a stray bullet passed through their home's exterior and interior walls before being stopped by their ASUS TUF VG258QM 280Hz gaming monitor while they were playing Call of Duty at night. The user shared photos of the bullet hole and the damaged monitor, calling it 'the best $280 I ever spent,' and ASUS has publicly responded saying it will look into the incident, though no replacement has been confirmed.

The incident highlights that ASUS TUF-branded hardware undergoes military-grade durability testing for shock, dust and temperature resistance, which may have incidentally helped the monitor withstand impact, though such testing does not include bullet resistance. This is at least the third reported case of PC gaming hardware accidentally blocking a stray bullet, suggesting these incidents, while rare, draw outsized attention due to their dramatic nature and tie-in with product durability marketing.
- A Redditor's ASUS TUF VG258QM monitor stopped a stray bullet that entered through exterior and interior walls.
- ASUS has acknowledged the Reddit post and says it will investigate, but has not confirmed a replacement.
- This follows similar previously reported incidents involving a gaming PC and a Razer headset deflecting stray bullets.
