GoKawiilGoogle Home Speaker drops to $79 at Best Buy, Walmart, Target
The Gemini-powered Google Home Speaker, which launched in June as Google's first new smart speaker in years, is now discounted by about $20 to roughly $79 in all four colors across Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. The sale marks the lowest price yet for the device, which supports Matter, includes a Thread border router, and can serve as audio output for the Google TV Streamer 4K.
GoKawiil's interpretation of the reporting above, not reported fact.
The price cut could make Google's smart home ecosystem more appealing to budget-conscious buyers weighing it against Amazon's Echo Dot Max, especially as reviewers note tradeoffs in sound quality between the two. Gemini's natural-language capabilities may also signal Google's broader push to differentiate its hardware through AI assistant improvements rather than just speaker specs.
- Google Home Speaker now costs about $79, a $20 discount, at major retailers.
- It supports Gemini AI, Matter, and Thread, and can output TV audio for Google TV Streamer 4K.
- Reviewers say it's smaller and cheaper than the Nest Audio but doesn't match its sound quality.
