What's Free in the Epic Games Store This Week?

read original related products more articles

Have you done the impossible and run out of new video games to play? Or are you someone who simply enjoys free stuff? There's no shame in that, especially with game prices rising and tariffs looming. Who isn't eager to save a bit of money? If that does sound like you, then we've got just the place you should check out: the Epic Games Store.

The store launched in 2019 after Epic capitalized on the massive success of battle royale game Fortnite. Addictively fun, Fortnite quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Epic has partnered with top brands and franchises like Marvel, DC and Star Wars, as well as celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter and Snoop Dogg. Epic created its store to compete with Valve's Steam storefront. But what makes Epic stand out is that, unlike Steam, it offers free games weekly -- both indie gems and major AAA titles.

To get started, you must first create an Epic Games account. And if you're worried it'll cost you anything, don't be -- it's completely free. Once you're signed up, head over to the free games section of the Epic Games Store every Thursday at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET, 4 p.m. BST) for weekly offerings of games both old and new.

Each week will be different, but the one thing you can expect is to have at least one free game each week. There may be breaks during holidays, but we'll keep you updated if that's the case. There's also the chance you'll get more than just a couple of games during special occasions, such as the winter holiday season, when games might be released daily. And you know what the best part is? You can keep the game you download forever. So if you're hesitating over whether a game's for you, we say give it a download anyway. You might be pleasantly surprised later when you get the chance to play it.

We do have some unfortunate news for console gamers, however. The Epic Games Store is only available for PC users, meaning console gamers won't be able to access the free games offered each week. The Epic Games Store serves up games for the Mac, but please note that some free titles may not be compatible. Double-check before downloading to ensure the game works for your system.

What's the new free game in the Epic Games Store this week? (July 10 to July 17)

Figment 2: Creed Valley

If you find yourself enjoying Bedtime Digital Games' Figment, you'll be happy to know the sequel will be available for free the week after. And the setting will again be the human mind.

We'd describe Figment 2: Creed Valley like so: It's Figment, but better. As in the original game, players explore, solve puzzles, tackle enemies in musical showdowns, and unravel the storybooklike world in which they find themselves. What's more, getting from point A to point B differs with each quest, meaning you'll never feel like you've faced an encounter before. Every experience is unique.

What sticks out this time around is that players will explore the human mind in two different states: close-minded and open-minded. This forces them to tackle different encounters in two different ways, whether they involve unique enemies or shifting environments.
