Hot off the heels of the blockbuster success of Superman, DC Studios is ready to introduce us to another child of Krypton already. After tiny teases throughout its production, we have our first proper look at Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. Well, “proper.” Of course, this new poster from James Gunn for Supergirl (like Superman before it, the film was previously subtitled Woman of Tomorrow for the comic series its story is heavily drawn from, before getting a shorter name), doesn’t give us a complete look at Kara—cutting off most of her face and covering her costume in a long overcoat—but it is our best look yet at her… … That is, if you haven’t seen Superman yet. The film concludes with Clark recuperating in the Fortress of Solitude, only to be rudely interrupted by Kara crashing in, drunk from a spacebound escapade where she flew over to a solar system without a yellow sun, so her powers would be reduced enough to allow her to get buzzed. It’s a moment right out of the opening of Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Matheus Lopes’ Woman of Tomorrow comic series, which sees Kara celebrating her birthday by taking Krypto on an interstellar bar-hopping experience, before she finds herself caught up in a new adventure—a moment already teased for the new film in our very first behind-the-scenes look from production. That scene, and this poster, give us plenty of indications of just how rough-and-ready the DCU’s Kara is going to be when we first meet her, so her cheeky update to Superman‘s tagline is definitely apropos. Supergirl is currently set to release June 26, 2026.
