If you use a third-party sleep tracker with your Apple Watch, you’re probably familiar with the concept of a sleep score: an index that combines signals like heart rate variation and sleep stages, to tell you how efficient your sleep really was. And while the Apple Watch gained native sleep tracking with watchOS 7, it’s been missing that kind of score. Not for long, as it may turn out. A third-party favorite may come to the Apple Watch As spotted by MacRumors, the iOS 26 Health app has an unused illustration called “Watch Focus Score”, which features an Apple Watch alongside multiple sleep-related symbols, such as an alarm clock, a bed, and the classic “zzz” sleep iconography. Few more notes: 1) Some other versions of this graphic have a thermometer icon which says to me that this feature will be available on old and new Apple Watches. 2) Maybe this is why the sleep icon is changing from light blue to purple. 3) I imagine the watch face complication… https://t.co/IKF5SYTZst pic.twitter.com/WqYY7CaWf4 — Steve Moser (@SteveMoser) July 23, 2025 In the illustration, the Apple Watch displays three colored segments that form a ring, with colors that match the existing sleep stages UI. At the center, the number 84 possibly represents the sleep score, which usually ranges from 0 to 100. Apple hasn’t announced or hinted at the feature, so right now it is unclear whether this will be a first-party sleep score system, or simply reflect data from third-party apps. That said, Apple has been moving toward broader, index-based health features, like the ovulation estimates in the Cycle Tracking app, and the Vitals app (seen above), which combines heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and sleep data into a single view.
