Apple TV+ just confirmed a new season for its latest hit comedy

Apple TV+ is having its biggest year ever. While Severance is the undisputed highlight, comedies on the streamer have been on a hot streak too. And the latest hit comedy, Stick, just got an official season 2 renewal.

Stick lands season 2 renewal at Apple TV+

You don’t have to be a sports fan, or care at all about golf, to root for Owen Wilson’s Pryce Cahill.

Cahill is the title character in comedy Stick, which has often topped Apple TV+ viewership charts throughout its first season run.

Stick’s season 1 finale just premiered today, and Apple has good news for fans of the show: season 2 is coming.

From the company’s press release:

Today, Apple TV+ announced that its widely celebrated, beloved sports comedy hit, “Stick,” starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson and created by Jason Keller, has been renewed for a second season with more heart, laughs and new characters, as well as the return of the ensemble cast including Wilson, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño and Lilli Kay.

In an interview published just today at Deadline, creator Jason Keller indicates he has no idea if season 2 will happen or not. It’s unknown exactly when Keller was interviewed for the piece. However, it’s possible Apple only very recently gave the green light internally.

Stick unsurprisingly hasn’t been able to replicate the huge success found with Ted Lasso, which it’s clearly been modeled after. But the show nonetheless has proven a hit with critics and viewers alike.

In my opinion, Stick also reached its highest heights in the last several episodes of the season. So here’s hoping that momentum carries over into season 2—whenever it arrives.
