The First Footage From Wicked: For Good Just Screened—Here’s What Happened

The past two years, Universal chose CinemaCon to debut the first footage from its adaptation of Wicked and now, with the second and final film on the way, it had to happen again. Director Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt, and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were all on hand to debut the first footage from the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good, and while it’s not yet online, here’s what happened. Glass breaks on what appears to be a brand new apartment. Glinda is living in in the Emerald City. She goes out to her massive balcony and says, “Elphaba Thropp, I know you’re out here, come in before the monkeys see you.” The camera circles her twice and then, boom, Elphaba is there. Elphaba has set up a home for herself somewhere in the woods. There, she looks at some of the propaganda that has been spreading about her. Monkeys fly through Oz.
