Apple TV+ is best known for its original TV series, but the streamer has recently started finding success in movies too. And coming soon are three high-profile new movies that look set to give Apple TV+ its best fall lineup to date. #1: Highest 2 Lowest The very next movie coming to Apple TV+ will reunite Denzel Washington and Spike Lee. Highest 2 Lowest hits Apple TV+ on Friday, September 5 following a limited theatrical bow on August 15. The NYC-set crime thriller is directed by Spike Lee and has a packed slate of stars, headlined by Denzel Washington, A$AP Rocky, and Jeffrey Wright. Here’s Apple’s official summary: When a titan music mogul (Denzel Washington), widely known as having the “best ears in the business,” is targeted with a ransom plot, he is jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma. Brothers Denzel Washington and Spike Lee reunite for the fifth time in their long working relationship for a reinterpretation of the great filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller “High and Low,” now played out on the mean streets of modern day New York City. #2: The Lost Bus The Lost Bus is coming to Apple TV+ this fall as the next film from Paul Greengrass (Jason Bourne series, United 93). Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera star in this thriller-drama that’s inspired by true events. Apple hasn’t shared a specific release date yet other than “fall,” but The Lost Bus will have a limited theatrical debut for awards contention with an Apple TV+ release expected within a couple weeks after. Here’s Apple’s summary: From director Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events, “The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno. #3: F1 The Movie F1 The Movie is currently still racking up its theatrical box office haul. It passed $500 million this weekend and is getting an IMAX re-release next month. Director Joseph Kosinski’s follow-up to Top Gun: Maverick was fully intended to be experienced on the biggest screen possible. But after its theatrical run ends, the film will arrive on Apple TV+. Apple hasn’t announced an official Apple TV+ premiere date for F1 yet, but this fall is widely expected. If you’re unfamiliar with F1 The Movie, here’s Apple’s summary and trailer: Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition — and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
