You can now watch Apple TV+ shows on in-flight entertainment systems across United Airlines’ fleet of planes, thanks to a new partnership announced today.
United travellers can get free access to Apple Originals like Severance, Slow Horses, and Ted Lasso, with more titles being added on a monthly basis.
The United partnership follows a similar long-running deal Apple has had with American Airlines.
In the case of United, customers can watch using the in-flight entertainment system in the back of their seat or using the United app. There is a special Apple TV+ channel to house the new content.
However, note that the full Apple TV+ content library is not available. At least right now, only the first season of flagship shows will be offered. This means flyers can check out the first season of Severance at no extra charge, but season two is not available to select.
Obviously, Apple hopes that people get hooked on a program so that they later subscribe to Apple TV+ and finish the series they started on the flight.
At launch, United will offer the full first seasons of Severance, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses and Silo. The airline will add The Morning Show and Bad Sisters in September.
