The new Bundesliga season gets underway on Friday with a mouth-watering clash between defending champ Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
Having won back the Meisterschale from Bayer Leverkusen in Vincent Kompany's first season in charge, Bayern comes into this season opener looking in good shape. Die Roten beat Stuttgart 2-1 in last Saturday's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, with goals from new signing Luis Díaz and last season's top scorer Harry Kane.
Leipzig, meanwhile, is looking to get off to a good start after a hugely disappointing campaign last term that saw them finish in a lowly 7th. A hefty $105 million has been shelled out on signings this summer, but new head coach Ole Werner looks likely to have to make do without key midfielder Xavi Simons. The Dutch star looks set to follow striker Benjamin Šeško to England before the end of the transfer window.
Bayern Munich takes on RB Leipzig on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Allianz Arena. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. CET local time in Germany, making it a 7:30 p.m. BST start in the UK. It's a 2:30 p.m. ET or 11:30 a.m. PT kickoff in the US and Canada, and a 4:30 a.m. AEDT start in Australia in the early hours of Saturday morning.
