After years of false starts, the next Highlander movie is finally coming from director Chad Stahelski and with Henry Cavill in the lead role. Cavillâs been the only casting weâve known about for some time, but now we know his former movie dad, Russell Crowe, is along for the ride. Per Collider, Crowe will play a âkey roleâ opposite Cavill, whoâs still expected to be playing immortal warrior Connor MacLeod. As for Crowe, thatâs a little tougher to determine; some outlets (like Deadline) have cla
In Brief European governments may be reconsidering their use of American technology and services, according to a new report in The New York Times. The flashpoint seems to come after President Donald Trump sanctioned Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, over the ICCâs decision to issue arrest warrants for Israelâs Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. In response, Microsoft turned off Khanâs email address. Casper Klynge, a
Is Mattel endangering your kid's development by shoving AI into its toys? The multi-billion dollar toymaker, best known for its brands Barbie and Hot Wheels, announced that it had signed a deal to collaborate with ChatGPT-creator OpenAI last week. Now, some experts are raising fears about the risks of thrusting such an experimental technology â and one with a growing list of nefarious mental effects â into the hands of children. "Mattel should announce immediately that it will not incorporate
A select few will soon get to experience Tesla's robotaxi service for the first time, but they won't be alone in the car. The company plans to launch its fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Austin, Texas tomorrow, but a "Tesla Safety Monitor" will accompany the first riders, according to email invitations sent out to "Early Access Riders." It's unclear what capabilities the safety monitor will have, but they will sit in the front passenger seat of a self-driving Model Y. The email outlined
âThe I.C.C. showed this can happen,â said Bart Groothuis, a former head of cybersecurity for the Dutch Ministry of Defense who is now a member of the European Parliament. âItâs not just fantasy.â Mr. Groothuis once supported U.S. tech firms but has done a â180-degree flip-flop,â he said. âWe have to take steps as Europe to do more for our sovereignty.â Some at the I.C.C. are now using Proton, a Swiss company that provides encrypted email services, three people with knowledge of the communicati
2025 The Nintendo Switch 2 is currently the featherweight champion of gaming handheldsâthough largely because nobody can enter its weight class. No other device of its sizeâwhether itâs a handheld PC or another retro deviceâcan slip so easily into a backpack without weighing you down, like youâre lugging a sack of bricks around through every train station and airport terminal. That slim design comes with its own heap of drawbacks. The Switch 2 is a thin device with narrow edges that tends to d
In just a few weeks, Samsung is expected to announce its latest generation of foldable smartphones as it does every year. If past trends continue, weâll likely see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 take center stage. And even as anticipation builds for those devices, the top-selling traditional flagship remains the Galaxy S25 Ultra which is also the most high-end Android phone available today. And now, Amazon is offering a new discount on the Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB model available for $1,
If you can get 5G on your phone while you're at home, you should be able to get 5G internet at your house, right? Not exactly. 5G is no longer new, thanks to efforts from major carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, but 5G home internet service isn't strictly available at the same addresses as 5G cellular service. I ran into this when I switched my mobile carrier from AT&T cellular service to T-Mobile phone service. I was immediately impressed with the phone's 5G performance. However, even though

Microsoft's Family Safety feature is designed to block certain types of websites from children. Apparently, it's also been blocking Google's Chrome browser -- but there is a workaround. Chrome, a web browser launched by Google in 2008 -- is not working when users have the Family Safety Feature enabled. The first report of the bug seems to date to June 3, when a user posted on Google's online support board. The user noted that Chrome constantly closed when the person tried to use it. Restarti

This article tells part of the story of the Civilization series. In the spring of 1996, Brian Reynolds and Jeff Briggs took a long, hard look around them and decided that theyâd rather be somewhere else. At that time, the two men were working for MicroProse Software, for whom they had just completed Civilization II, with Reynolds in the role of primary designer and programmer and Briggs in that of co-designer, producer, and soundtrack composer. If youâre a film lover, one of the great things about old classics is that you can always find something to appreciate when you revisit them. If youâre a studio executive, one of the great things about old classics is that you own them and can milk them for every penny their worth. At the Shanghai International Film Festival, several Chinese movie studios announced on Thursday that they would be taking their archive of martial arts classics and AI-ifying them.
