In the immediate term, the Windsurf team will continue to operate as they have been, and we will remain focused on our work of accelerating your engineering

Context Engineering Guide

What is Context Engineering? A few years ago, many, even top AI researchers, claimed that prompt engineering would be dead by now. Obviously, they were very wrong, and in fact, prompt engineering is now even more important than ever. It is so important that it is now being rebranded as context engineering. Yes, another fancy term to describe the important process of tuning the instructions and relevant context that an LLM needs to perform its tasks effectively. Much has been written already

Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Going After ‘Chemtrails’ With New Bill to Ban Weather Modification

House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is the latest lawmaker to seemingly go after the fictional threat of chemtrails. Over the weekend, Greene stated she will soon introduce a federal bill aimed at banning substances from being injected into the atmosphere. Greene announced the proposed bill in an X post published Saturday. The legislation would reportedly bar chemicals from being released into the air for the “express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight

Possible Google Pixel 10a back cover makes a very early (and very sketchy) appearance

Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR An image of a “Google Pixel 10A engineering back cover” has emerged online. The back appears to be slightly different from the Pixel 9a. It’s only been a few months since the release of the Pixel 9a, but that’s not going to stop leakers from going after its successor. We’ve already heard a few rumors about the Pixel 10a, such as its codename. Now a new potential leak may give us a few more details about the next entry to Google’s mid-range line. On the C

Prompting LLMs is not engineering

Prompting LLMs is not engineering published in: With the proliferation of AI models and tools, there's a new industry-wide fascination with snake oil remedies called "prompt engineering". As of July 2025 the term is now "context engineering" or "context prompting" or "context manipulation". To put it succinctly, prompt engineering is nothing but an attempt to reverse-engineer a non-deterministic black box for which any of the parameters below are unknown: training set weights constraints o

The new skill in AI is not prompting, it's context engineering

June 30, 2025 5 minute read Context Engineering is new term gaining traction in the AI world. The conversation is shifting from "prompt engineering" to a broader, more powerful concept: Context Engineering. Tobi Lutke describes it as "the art of providing all the context for the task to be plausibly solvable by the LLM.” and he is right. With the rise of Agents it becomes more important what information we load into the “limited working memory”. We are seeing that the main thing that determine

AI is going to hack Jira

Dead Fish, Salton Sea - 1983 Richard Misrach In Big Agile, engineering = new features. Whether you’re looking to track story points or adherence to roadmap or deployment velocity, there’s a “developer productivity dashboard” for you. In fact, there are about $200b worth to choose from, all promising to make you better, faster, and cheaper. There’s just one problem: they don’t work. Engineering productivity can’t be measured by tracking new features. Engineering is not a new mobile app. Engi

In praise of “normal” engineers

This article was originally commissioned by Luca Rossi (paywalled) for refactoring.fm, on February 11th, 2025. Luca edited a version of it that emphasized the importance of building “10x engineering teams” . It was later picked up by IEEE Spectrum (!!!), who scrapped most of the teams content and published a different, shorter piece on March 13th. This is my personal edit. It is not exactly identical to either of the versions that have been publicly released to date. It contains a lot of the so

Observability startup Coralogix becomes a unicorn, eyes India expansion

Coralogix, an Israeli startup offering a full-stack observability and security platform, has raised $115 million at a pre-money valuation of over $1 billion, almost doubling in three years from its last round in 2022. With the influx of cash, the startup is looking to expand its engineering base in India and develop its AI agent. The all-equity and all-primary Series E round is led by California-based venture growth firm NewView Capital, with participation from the Canada Pension Plan Investme

First 2D, non-silicon computer developed

The team used metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) — a fabrication process that involves vaporizing ingredients, forcing a chemical reaction and depositing the products onto a substrate — to grow large sheets of molybdenum disulfide and tungsten diselenide and fabricate over 1,000 of each type of transistor. By carefully tuning the device fabrication and post-processing steps, they were able to adjust the threshold voltages of both n- and p-type transistors, enabling the construction

Rice University students design high-tech vest to help blind dogs navigate

What just happened? A playful Houston dog named Kunde inspired a group of Rice University engineering students to tackle a challenge faced by countless pets: how to help blind dogs explore their world without fear or frustration. Their answer is a high-tech vest that could soon offer new independence to visually impaired animals – without the discomfort of traditional aids. The project began when Kunde's owners, Grant Belton and AJ Price, reached out to Rice University's Oshman Engineering Desi

Despite recent layoffs, Meta is expanding in India

Meta made headlines last month for announcing plans to cut 5% of its employees, controversially deeming them “low performers.” But the job cuts aren’t holding Meta back from expanding in certain geographic areas. Meta is setting up a new site in the country’s tech hub of Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore), multiple Meta employees posted on LinkedIn this month. Meta is currently hiring for 41 positions there, according to its careers webpage, most of which were posted over the last month.
