A developer released Capsule, a tool for building self-contained web apps that embed their own SQLite database within a single file. The apps run without requiring cloud servers, user accounts, or an internet connection, keeping all data stored locally on the user's device.
French startup The Exploration Company, led by Helene Huby, closed a record $450 million Series C funding round to advance its Nyx cargo capsule, a future crewed spacecraft, and plans for a reusable heavy-lift rocket. Huby says the company aims to test a 400,000-pound-thrust methane engine by 2028 and fly the new launcher by 2033, with further fundraising expected once key technical milestones are hit.
XGIMI has launched the Vibe One, a battery-powered, Google-certified Full HD LCD projector priced under $250. The compact 3.1-pound device rotates on its own handle to project onto walls or ceilings without a tripod, and doubles as an LED lamp and Bluetooth speaker. It sits below XGIMI's pricier MoGo lineup and the Nebula Capsule 3, offering fewer features but a lower cost.
Researchers at MIT, led by Saransh Sharma with senior authors Giovanni Traverso and Anantha Chandrakasan, developed an ingestible capsule that measures body temperature to within 0.01°C. The device runs on a coin-cell battery and uses backscattering to shift most power demands to an external antenna, resulting in what they call the smallest ingestible temperature sensor yet built.
