Apple unveiled its first foldable-screen device, the iPhone Duo, featuring a nano-texture display designed to hide the fold crease. The name itself has a long history in tech, having previously been used for NEC's TurboDuo game console, Google's video-calling app Duo, and Apple's own PowerBook Duo laptop from 1992.
According to a Diamond Online report, NEC quietly halted development of physical quantum computing machines at the end of March 2026, decades after pioneering superconducting qubit research in 1999. Several researchers from the program, including a key leader, have reportedly since joined Fujitsu, which continues investing heavily in the technology. NEC has not confirmed a full exit, stating it still evaluates practical applications and industrialization of quantum technologies with customers.
The developer behind the MartyPC emulator commissioned a 5.6-gigapixel die photograph of an NEC V20 CPU (fabricated by second-source manufacturer Sharp) to extract its microcode. The goal is to replace MartyPC's existing V20 emulation core, which was essentially a modified 8088 core rather than a true cycle-accurate model, with one based on the chip's actual internal logic.
